Foundation years and year out
Hi! I'd just like to ask a little more about a few things. I'm a medical student right now.
Firstly, is foundation year in the army very similar to the NHS in that you work in one of the MOD-affiliated hospitals? Is it a fixed salary and fixed hours or are you like NHS doctors where you may work overtime etc. Also in foundation years would you have any exposure to army life or does that only start afterwards when the 3 years begin?
Second, once you complete GDMO would the army support you taking a year out to do locum work in the NHS (similar to a FY3) before going onto specialty training back with the army? This might be useful if you didn't get the specialty you wanted (I read the army would let you do another year as GDMO but not if you could locum for a year and reapply).
Thank you!

what if i am transgender?
I am transgender male to female I currently identify as a female with family, friends & current work colleagues that call me by my preferred name, however I am on the waiting list for the gender clinic and have not under gone any hormone treatment and I am pre op.
would I still have to identify as a male?
and how can the army help and support me though my gender change?
During training is there any support for me with separate changing/shower rooms? along with any mental support if needed?
from what I have read the arrangement to sleep and wash there is only option for male and female however this would be extremely uncomfortable for myself.

Is there roles for registered paramedics within the Army Reserves and how does it work in terms of scope of practice?
I am starting university now and am looking at options for afterwards. I've always had an interest in the military, being a member of the RAFAC since the age of twelve. While the military is a big part of my life, I only want to do it alongside a full time career in the NHS. My interests are to advance into the Critical Care field on civvi street, so I would be interested in eventually being in MERT within the Army (or the RAF...?). I would have a degree, so I would also like to know what the difference would be if I was to go in as a reserve officer compared to reserve soldier? Thank you!

Re - Basic Training and pay PLEASE READ
I read that Recruits in basic training earn roughly £15,671 a year, but as your only at basic training for 14 weeks (around 3.2 months) means they get £1119 a week making it £4477 a month while at training . is this right? how is it worked out

What is the average time from Assessment Center till basic training?
I know it all depends on the role you applied for, but I was wondering if there was an average time like a minimum time they could give you?
Asking because my assesment is in a few weeks, but I unfortunetly went and hurt my chest, I am able to complete all the assesment center physical activities, but certain movements hurt the chest.
