Kellan R. asked a question to Claire W.
Hello and thanks for your question. Being a vehicle mechanic for the Army means you will gain experience working on a wide variety of vehicles from trucks to HGVs.
A part of your job will be to travel, for example you could be attached to a unit going abroad on exercise, mechanics are needed to service and maintain all vehicles during this time. The frequency of going away depends on the unit you are with and the length of time varies.
It's difficult to give you an exact answer but I would keep in mind that travelling is a part of the job. The Army will take into consideration if you have any genuine reasons why you would struggle with this, e.g. if you had family members dependant on you, and they will support you where possible.
Wishing you good luck 😃
