I think its hard not to be influenced by those around you but at the end of the day you have to do what's best for you. If a career in the Army is what you want, then those around you will support your decision.
It may be worth understanding why they don't think its a good idea so you can educate them on what a career in the Army actually looks like. There are so many opportunities, different career paths and benefits to joining the Army.
