I don’t know how to phrase it but I’m worried about being a woman in the army.

Anonymous asked a question to Amie P.

I’ve seen so much negativity about females serving in the military from both politicians and soldiers themselves, as well as stories from female soldiers. It’s scary and the only thing that’s stopping me from becoming involved due to being so male dominated. I don’t wish to be looked down upon.

    Hi there,

It's completely natural to have concerns about joining the Army as a woman. The good news is that the British Army is committed to providing equal opportunities for everyone, regardless of gender. Here are a few points that might help ease your worries:

    1. Inclusive Environment: The Army has made significant strides in creating an inclusive environment where women are respected and valued. Women can now serve in all roles, including combat positions, which were previously restricted.
    2. Support Systems: There are robust support systems in place, including mentorship programs, women's networks, and dedicated welfare officers, to ensure that all soldiers have the support they need.
    3. Training and Development: The training you receive will prepare you for the challenges ahead, and you'll be part of a team that values teamwork and camaraderie. You'll have the same opportunities for career advancement and development as your male counterparts.
    4. Policies and Protections: The Army has strict policies against discrimination and harassment, and there are clear procedures for reporting and addressing any issues that arise.
    5. Role Models: There are many successful women in the Army who have paved the way and can serve as role models and sources of inspiration.

If you have specific concerns or questions, don't hesitate to reach out further and I will see what other support we can provide.
