How likely am I to become a dog handler?

After basic training, how long will i have to wait to become one? If i cant apply to be one, what should I do? How long is the waiting list?

    Hi there,

As you can imagine, the role of Dog Handler is one of the most popular positions within the British Army, as many people are eager to work with military dogs. Consequently, the waiting list for this role can be quite long. Unfortunately, I cannot say how long that wait list will be as it can change all the time.

When you submit your application, you can express your interest in becoming a Dog Handler. However, you should also select two other job roles that interest you. It's always a good idea to keep your options open when it comes to job choices. This way, you increase your chances of securing a position that aligns with your skills and interests, even if your first choice has a long waiting list.

Remember, the Army offers a wide range of exciting and rewarding career opportunities, so exploring different roles can be beneficial. If you're determined to pursue the Dog Handler role exclusively, that's perfectly fine.
