Hi Claire. I am interested in becoming a ceremonial gunner when i finish college. Could i do showjumping as a sport?

I have spent a lot of my life with horses, and would love to be a ceremonial gunner to work with them. i am interested in being in the showjumping or event team to persue as a sport in the army, and would love to know more about it. how do i qualify? what route should i take? can i mainly doriding?

    Hello, thank you for your question.

    I think the Army would be an amazing place for you as you are clearly passionate about horses. There are 2 mounted units in the Army: The Kings Horse Artillery and the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

    When it comes to sport the Army has teams for Show Jumping, Dressage, Evening, Racing and Show Jumping. The opportunities are massive when it comes to sport, you can even become a full-time athlete within the Army if that is your true passion, alternatively you can do it as a hobby.

    My advice would be to put through an application, your recruiter will then discuss how the process works and help you decide what role you would like to go for.
