This would be a possibility however it is never guaranteed that you would be able to do this as you will be depending on the unit to release you and the other to accept you.

You would still need to meet the entry requirements for the job role itself regardless of previous training or medical experience.

The CMT role itself is very broad and you cover a lot of elements whereas nursing is very specific. You don't need any previous experience and all training will be funded for by the British Army should you wish to go the student nurse role. All training will be done through Birmingham city university and you will then do a transition to military practice course which will cover the differences so you will know your job before being expected to do it.

if a 16 yr old and 7mths had the GCSE requirments to go into nursing but did the CMT first, would it be possible to join as an undergraduate nurse after completing the CMT training once old enough?

You could do this however a transfer is not guaranteed especially due to the shortage of medics that we currently have. However at this age you could still start the process and by the time you complete the application stage you could go straight into nursing. As there are only 2 intakes a year for this. Please contact your nearest careers centre for more information and they will be able to explain this in more detail.
