    Hi there,

As part of our annual training, all soldiers conduct weapon handing and ranges to ensure we are capable of basic military tasks. As a dog handler you would do this less than say an Infantry soldier as this is their area of expertise but still take part in them.

After training, do I have a option to go to a infantry unit as a dog handler ?

    Hi Rudy,

Dog Handler is one of most applied for roles so there is likely a waiting list at present but if it is something you want to do it’s absolutely best to get your application in and started.

As a dog handler you are based within a military working dog regiment and then will deploy out to support training and operations from there.

    Hi Rudy,

To apply it is just through our normal army jobs candidate portal where you will then be put in touch with a recruiter. All the information for being a dog handler can be found here - https://jobs.army.mod.uk/roles/army-medical-service/dog-handler/.

When you go through your Phase 2 training process as a Dog Handler you will get to select a preference as to what role you do but I know handlers who have rotated through and done a variety.
