Why did you choose to be a doctor in the Army as opposed to the RAF or Navy?

    Hello,

Truthfully, I don't really like boats or planes!

In hindsight, I am happy with the choice I made, but now for other reasons.
The RAF only do 1 year of 'GDMO' time, and I really enjoyed the experience my 3 years as a GDMO in the Army gave me and if I could choose again, I would definitely opt for the longer GDMO time, I could quite happily have done another year.

My navy colleagues have a very similar set up, but when they deploy they predominantly work on ships or in submarines, neither of which particularly appeals to me. I have also found that our GDMO time is a little more structured than theirs as we seem to have slightly more stringent rules for passing ARCP (especially in terms of clinical sessions etc..).

Please remember I am probably slightly biased, and my Navy and RAF colleagues also seem very happy with their choices!
