Natasha K. asked a question to Steven -.
I'm just wanting to know who can or cant join, the requirements, how long it takes to even start. What the says look like, the morning routines, and everything in-between:)
Hello Natasha,
All the latest entry requirements can be found on the Army Jobs website here: Army Entry Requirements. You'll need to meet all the requirements to be able to apply, otherwise, your application will be rejected. The requirement categories include age, nationality, fitness, health, education, criminal convictions, and tattoos & piercings. You should look into them individually to see how they apply to you and the role you're interested in.
The time it takes to join from the moment you apply varies for everybody. Factors include Basic Training intake dates and access to medical records. Personally, it took me a couple of months, but I've heard from others that it took up to a year.
'Morning routine' could refer to a number of things, but a few examples could be:
1. Basic Training, in camp: You'll wake up early, wash, and head to the 'scoff house' for breakfast before coming back and making sure that your Troop (or Platoon) living space is in immaculate condition ready for the section commanders to inspect. Then you'll be marched to your military syllabus lessons for the day.
2. On exercise, in a harbour area: You'll wake up in a shell scrape just before first light and 'stand to' (have all your kit packed away and be ready to react to any potential enemy attacks) before taking it in turns with your shell scrape buddy to clean your weapon system, wash, and cook some breakfast.
3. On camp: As long as you make the 'First Parade' and you're in the right kit and presentable (squadded Physical Training is normally the first thing on the agenda) your morning routine is up to you!
Hopefully that's answered your questions, but feel welcome to follow up anything else in the comments.
