I'm going to apply for dog handler and I know the wait list is longer then usual 12 or 18 months. during this time period do I stay in civilian life and wait or do you have to join the army and do a different role and wait for a position to open up.
Hi, great question. If you are waiting for a particular role, you wait as you would for any job to start. The Army will only get you into training when the job vacancy is there. If you were desperate to join ASAP you could join into a Corps / trade that hasn't got a huge wait and look at transferring later to be a dog handler but there is no guarantee that they could get you into that role as a transfer. I hope this gives you some food for thought though. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.
