Id like to get in, complete 2 years and attempt the pilots course asap as I am already 20yrs old and fear that it may be to late once I've completed what I need to in order to attempt the pilots course.
Thanks for your question.
The rank requirement for Army Air Corps (AAC) NCO pilot has just been lowered. In order to apply as an NCO pilot you will need to have at a recommendation for promotion to Lance Corporal (takes about 3/4 years in the AAC). Your application will need to be with the AAC by age 28. This is so you can hit all the pre-requirements before turning 30 which is the cut off for starting the pilots course. As you are only 20, you should not find it too difficult to get a recommendation for promotion before turning 28.
As for what role to choose, that is completely up to you as you can apply from any Regiment/Corps in the Army. We get many soldiers from across the Army from Chefs to Paratroopers. If you wanted a better understanding of aviation, then I would recommend either the AAC or an aviation technician in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).
