Hello I’m thinking about joining the aviation ground crew specialists. After training, where are they based? Also how often are they posted? I’d be living alone and I’m wondering, would I have to live in other countries for a long period of time?
Hello, Thank you for the great question! The Aviation Ground-crew Specialists are located in where the main Army Air Corps units are based. Which can be at Ipswich, Yeovilton, Northern Ireland working with various aircraft.
When you get to your first unit you are posted for 4 years this can change with different Groundcrew roles that become free. After that the typical posting duration is every 2 years with the possibility to extend.
Additionally the Army Air Corps does have a maritime squadron that normally work from ships. Being out of country is mainly down to the exercise or training duration.
