when would be a realistic timescale for my bf and I to live together in the army? (Extra info below)

My boyfriend has just started basic training, age 19, and is looking to join the Royal Engineers when the 14 weeks are over; I wondered when would be a realistic timeline for us to apply for living arrangements/ a house and if there is a waiting list.

    Hi! Thanks for your question.
With regards to being a couple, within the Army there is a scheme called the Long Term Relationship (LTR). Proof of being within a relationship for longer than a year needs to be provided and signed off by a Responsible Officer (can be sqn leader, RAO, Troop leader. An Officer of at least Capt/Maj rank) once that is done. An application for Surplus SFA (Service Families Accommodation l) can be submitted. Due to you both not being married, there can be a wait as service families will be placed above you on the waiting list. The scheme is getting updated later on it the year and it will be under AGAI 81, sadly I don’t know the rough month apologies.
Hope this helps, if you have anymore questions, please get in touch!
