When working as a reservist, are there options to stay in accomodation on base?

I was wondering, many local units in my area do not interest me; however a unit that is a while away, about 20-30 minute drive piques my interest more. When I am a reservist, am I able to live on base and go on my day to day business?

    Good morning,

Unfortunately as a run of the mill reservist then accommodation is not offered unless you are on duty at the time such as on a course, deployment or exercise. There are however roles for more senior reservists called FTRS (Full Time Reserve Service) where accommodation could be available but these are usually for Senior NCOs and above. It would take time to get to the rank where you would be eligible and as the name suggests it would not be a part time role. Comparatively to the rest of the Army, these roles are very few and far between, time bound and require a selection process to get. It would not be wise to put all of your eggs in one basket in the hope that you could get one of these and definitely not until you have promoted a few times.

Im sorry this probably isn't the answer you were hoping for but hopefully it did help clarify your question a bit more.
