When joining , as a male , what are the rules on hair? Does it all have to come off when starting?

The rules have been more relaxed in recent years. If you have a "mop head" be prepared to loose plenty of your hair.

Typically after training the rules look like I've listed below. I had a grade 2 all over in basic training. love the standard "Military cut" now. Short back and sides but you don't have to follow as short as i have it.

After training the hair on the top of your head that can be hidden by a Beret is pretty much as long as you'd like it. the back and sides however will have to be somewhat short however due to being on show.

    Hair length

Hair is to be groomed such that its length does not reach to the collar or onto the ears.

The same applies where twists, locks or cornrows are worn unless worn for religious reasons.

    How about sideburns?

Sideburns are not to descend below the mid-point of the ear and are to be trimmed horizontally.
