Ive just quit now knowing I want to sign up to army but I don't know if it is worth waiting signing up if there will be a drugs test when applying
Hi there,
From memory, a sample of urine was provided at the army selection centre (2 day assessment as part of your application) during the medical, and again at the start of basic training. I'm unsure if this is still the case, but if you go into it with the mindset that you WILL be drugs tested, then perhaps you're less likely to touch any illegal substances?
The army has a zero tolerance policy on drug use, so I would advise staying clear going forward if you seek a career in the military.
You mention that you've now ceased drug use, so I would say you're fine to apply now. The drugs should be out your system by the time you're required to drug test. Use your application to join the army as extra motivation to stay clean.
Hope that helps
