when applying for the army can you choose to be a specific role like a gunner instead of a driver in a crew?

I want to join the LIGHT CAVALRY CREW ROYAL ARMOURED CORPS but to primarily be a gunner not a driver, I was wondering if its possible?

Good evening and thankyou for your question,

When joining the Royal Armoured Corps, you will always start out as a driver. Once you've established yourself and gained some experience in that role, you will then be able to attend your gunnery course.

This usually doesn't take long and we have plenty of soldiers trained in multiple roles.

The reason for this is so that every member of your crew Is able to drive and maintain the vehicle in an emergency situation. It is the most important job in the vehicle and therefore you can understand the need for it to be a universal skill.

You'll have bags of opportunity to explore all the different jobs as a crewman, and find whichever suits you best, working your way up from being a driver all the way up to a commander in no time.

Best of luck with your application, any questions then feel free to ask.
