What would be the apporpriate pathway to get into cyber defense?

More specifically a network architect for defensive systems, I've looked into paths such as the 77 Brigade and regular cyber security in the army but they don't seem to have any details about if they're able to lead to this sort of job role.

    Hi there,

Our Cyber Engineer role within the Royal Signals are responsible for the network architecture side of the Army and ensuring that our systems are defensible. Having established yourself in this role, this is when opportunities would open for work with other government departments and organisations such as 77X.

Thank you for the response, knowning that it is a possible future pathway is reassuring. I was also curious if joining as an Intelligence Officer first, then moving towards OPTI would lead to similar opportunities. I seem to be torn between the two and this is quite an important deciding factor for me.

As an Intelligence Officer you will move around roles so specialising specifically in OPTI is not a guarantee and you will be given a choice of posts depending on where the Army needs you post Sandhurst. Whereas if you join as an OPTI solider that will be your specialty and you will go into OPTI roles.
