Hello there. Thanks for your question. I focused my preparation before starting training mainly on fitness. Before I applied to join the Army I was active but not very strong, especially with regards to upper body strength (I couldn't do one press up). Therefore I focused my training on press ups and upper body fitness, focusing on technique. Then when I got to training I was singled out as the person with the best press up technique.
I would advise working on your weaknesses - whatever they might be. Especially so that you pass all the fitness tests with ease when you arrive.
