I’ve always been fascinated by rifles and why they are the way they are and because of that I just can’t imagine an L85a2/a3 being too helpful to a tank crewman given the tight spaces in which they operate. The L22a2 carbine I understand is considerably shorter but would we use it in basic?
Your right, crews of AFV such as Challenger 2s and AJAX are issued with the shorter carbine.
The weapon system is identically in it's function and handling as the rifle version. Due to this, while in training you will learn and use the SA80 rifle.
