What matters?

Does it matter what race or what passport I have, or anything else about me? For example, does it matter if I have dual nationality and an Italian passport? Does it matter what country I was born in, and if so, what are the chances of facing racism or anything like that? Thanks!

I’ve lived in the UK for 9 years, but I don’t have a British citizenship passport. I’m 14. My mother is a British citizen, but my dad is Italian, and we’ve had trouble getting me a British passport. I’ve heard that if you’re over 18, you need to have a university education and take exams to get a British passport, but I’m not sure. I’m just wondering if I could join with my Italian passport.

    Good morning Ahnaf

In order to join the British Army you need to be a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen. There is a wide array of people in the Army who have been raised in different nations and their different experiences can strengthen their teams through diversity of thought. I have just come from a role with NATO and have met a number of people with Italian heritage who have been extremely helpful due to their cultural and language skills.

    Hope this helps
