What is the difference between being an NHS FY1/2 doctor and an Army FY1/2 doctor in Birmingham for example?

If I was to get the bursary and join the army as an FY1/2 in Birmingham or Portsmouth etc what are the differences from NHS life (responsibility, training both medical and military, pay as FY1/2 etc). How different are those foundation years compared to NHS counterparts?

The bursary only helps you to cover the funding and training materials for your course. Of which you do not get paid for, once you have completed your entry standards for the Army and completed year 3 or your registration with the GMC you will then be able to start working in the military environment. This will automatically give you the pay and rank of a captain. You will then complete your final 2 years within military service and then have opportunities to specialise into different fields such as emergency, surgical or GP. The foundation years are taught to the university syllabus and the Army has no influence at this stage apart to help with your application.
