    Samuel L. Infantry Officer

    Hello William,

It depends on whether you are in barracks, on exercise or deployed on Operations. In barracks you can expect to be training your soldiers and generally looking after their welfare whilst also helping to maintain equipment and vehicles. Some of that is office and classroom based and some is outside or elsewhere in barracks. If you are on exercise you are responsible for leading your platoon and conducting a range of tactical activities like platoon attacks, patrolling or defensive actions. On Operations you you will generally do a mixture of both as you may spend time in camp or barracks during the tour.

In general though you are focused on leading your platoon and making sure they are well prepared and looked after. Which is genuinely a fantastically rewarding job.
