If you are qualified as a vet / veterinary surgeon and then your day to day would involve looking after and maintaining the health of all the animals in service your other responsibility as an officer would be to look after all personnel under your command ensuring that everyone including your own clinical skills are kept up to date through mandatory training courses as well as operating in clinics to maintain clinical skills.
