It depends on the unit and what their forecast is. A usual working day in the Infantry starts between 0730-0800 until around 1630-1700 and normally start with about an hour of physical training, which could be strength and conditioning, cardio or even sports. In barracks we would then focus on basic soldiering skills and maintaining our equipment (be that Personal, Section, Platoon, Company or Battalion level) and going out on exercise where we would stay out in the field to practise our tactical skills in a more realistic environment
The accommodation policy now allows service personnel to live in service accommodation so if you have a long term partner you can have your family near your base in military housing.
