Phase 2 Combat Logistician Course.

Once you pass Phase 1, all RLC Recruits go to the Defence School of Transport (DST) in Leconsfield where you will gain your Cat B, HGV licences and complete the Combat Logistician course, before moving onto specialist trade training. This course can take up to 3 months or more too complete depending if you pass you’re driving tests first time.

Phase 3 Air Despatcher Course.

After completing Phase 2 you will be sent to Brize Norton in Oxfordshire to start your Phase 3 Specialist Trade training this will start with a 4 day assessment which includes fitness tests and interviews. If successful you will then start the course which includes weekly tests on different types of loads such as boats, harness packs, quads bikes and more. You will also learn about Knots, lashings, how to load an aircraft and health and safety in an aviation environment. At the end of the course you will gain a Level 2 in Aviation Operations on the ground. This Course also takes 3 months to complete.

Before committing to a role weigh the pros and cons, you can transfer in Phase 1 & 2 training but once your committed in Phase 3 you will have to wait to you get to your 3 year point. Thank you so much that’s really helpful! I’ve been on and off roles for a while now but I’ve decided this is the job I want to do, I just wanted a little heads up of what training would be like and you’ve answered that for me, so once again thank you
