What is dog handling like as regular soldier?

I want to join as a dog handler but I have semi flat feet (I have a small arch) and have a little motion sickness

Dog handling as a regular is a busy role, you will be attached to units as and when required, for the most part you will be based usually in the east midlands area and your role will involve looking after and training your allocated dog. This will involve duties to which may sometimes require you to work late or at weekends to help look after other dogs in kennels whilst their owners are away, this would be done usually on a rota and sorted by your chain of command.

Providing you pass the medical your flat feet should not present to much of an issue. As for the motion sickness there may be some travelling involved as part of your job but this can often be managed through medication etc some people will naturally get over it too.

Thank you so much, that really helped as I am hoping to join AFC Harrogate in September 2026.
