What is better a medical support officer or a combat medic?

Want to do my gap year commission at Sandhurt after Sixth form, but I have recently found out it that it's not possible to be a combat medic and an officer. I am really struggling to decide. What position is better?

CMT is as a Soldier and will take up to 18 months post Phase 1&2 in a Medical Regiment to become a Class 1 CMT. It all depends on whether you want to be clinical and hands on or become an officer who manages the those in a clinical role. As an MSO you are not clinical, but you are in charge of people who are. My advice would be try the gap year commission but make sure you check it keeps the door open for you if you then decide you do want to become a CMT and go the Soldier route if that is what you prefer.
