Good Morning Caroline and thankyou for your question.
There is compensation available of course for is serving personnel are injured whilst on duty. Various schemes will be able to explain more about this to you, such as the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. As well as this, all of our personnel are encouraged to look into their current life insurance policies, as there are only some which cover death as a result of military service for example.
Of course there will be compensation from the military if something grave did happen, however there isn't a set amount and it would be assessed at the time depending on how the event occurred etc.
This information will all be conversed with the soldiers Next of Kin and in line with the instructions laid out in their will, which will be updated regularly anyway.
Hope this helps, and i hope you never have to use this information in a real circumstance. If you need anything else, feel free to let me know, but that's as much as i know from my personal knowledge on the subject.
