David F. asked a question to Greg H.
I have just applied for the army for the role of RMP Officer. The main concern i had was how long i would spend away from home. I want to know how often you are deployed abroad and what the job involves when you are working from the UK.
Hello David,
When not deployed our job can vary massively. We have a responsibility for garrison policing in the UK and overseas, so that always continues, along with our operations focussed training.
No matter what job you do in the army you are likely to spend time away from home. This can be short periods of only a few days for training courses and exercise or longer with deployments which are usually around 6 months in length. Deployment frequency can vary greatly. Some people may only deploy every 3 years (maybe longer) and some people may go every year. A lot is down to how keen you are to deploy repeatedly and the sort of job you are in. Our Close Protection teams can find themselves deployed quite frequently.
Hope this helps.
