What do your fitness levels have to be like to be a doctor in the army?

I have read the fitness requirements for applying, but are these reflective? I imagine everyone to be extra fit and I am just average I’d say.

    Hello,

The fitness requirements for applying are a minimum, and are not reflective of the level of fitness you will need once you have joined. However your initial training is designed to build you up from the entry requirements, to the required level of fitness. I would add that it helps to try and be as fit as possible prior to starting training, as it makes the process feel slightly more manageable!

There are some exceptionally fit doctors who compete at both Army and national level sport, but then there are those who are not as well! We are a varied bunch.

While it does help to be fit, and we do have to do annual fitness tests, there are many more important aspects to being an Army doctor, so I wouldn't let it put you off.
