Hi Ashwin,
An MO is a qualified GP, and therefore could work privately as a GP on leaving the military. Lots of MOs will also have a diploma in occupational medicine, or another field of interest, and may do this privately when leaving.
To do any work outside of the military while you are serving you will need permission from your line managers - and as military life can be unpredictable and things happen at very short notice sometimes, this isn't always easy to commit to or organise.
