Joseph G. asked a question to Robert H.
Hey Robert, I'm interested in a role that is both technical ie. Computer networks ect but also involves combat and deployments. Any help?
HI there Joseph,
Thankyou for your question. Technical trades and direct combat tend to keep separate in terms of what they do. As a technically trained person your primary role would be completeing your role rather than closing with the enemy. There are however some roles that are more likely to deploy and would be further forward in terms of what they are expected to do. Electronic warfare operators often are very close to the front to disrupt enemy communicatons. There are also Signals Operatives who deploy with our airborne forces and are armoured to go with our armoured forces. There are even dedicated signallers who work directly with our special forces. If Combat was more important for you then they are roles within combat regiments where you can become signals instructors, sorting things on the ground as a secondary task for your main role. Everywhere the Army goes we require communications so deployment opportunities will definitely be there if your interest lies in communications networks.
Hope this helps and please fire more more questions if i can be of help.
