That is very thoughtful of you and I wish your son the best of luck with basic training.
Everyone who arrives at basic will be issued with everything they need to start the course and additional items can be very dependent on the individual, so it might be best to wait until they are a few weeks in before buying anything. It is also a nice thing to get gifts while you are undertaking basic training because there will be points where it is hard and going home to a present on the bed is a real morale boost.
You can never have too many treat foods to help you through though, so those would not be wasted if your son can avoid eating them that long!
Merry Christmas to you both.
Josh
Thank you, so there isn’t a kit list of what to take for basic training?
Yes, your son will receive a kit list as part of his joining instructions. The items you will need to take with you, rather than being issued, are primarily civilian clothes and some wash kit. Again, I would wait until you receive the kit list before you making any additional purchases.
