Hello Tori, My name is Matthew and I'm considering on applying for the Aviation support officer role in the reserves. I'm 36 years of age. The reason I'm contacting you today is because I may of experienced a possible gout attack when flying back from Australia just recently (currently not diagnosed). Doctors are unsure if it was cellulites or gout, but recent bloods are pointing more towards gout. It's possible it could of been a one off attack, as I'm just over the normal range with my uric acid levels and don't require any medication, and the pain went away within 48 hours. So I'm wondering how this may effect my application? Any advice would be helpful. Best, M
Hi Matthew,
Because, as you have described, these things are so nuanced and personal it is impossible for us to say without the access to your medical records. As part of our application process, our team gain access to these and can then make a definite decision from there. Unfortunately we can't give you a clear yes or no on here!
