Hi, knowing the army's values and standards will be a real help (both for assessment centre and basic training) - these can be found by googling them (remember the mneumonic CDRILS).
The phonetic alphabet may be useful but is also something that's taught. Sounds silly, but being able to iron and sew on a button will be really useful too. Googling cognitive tests / psychometric tests is also useful for assessment centre and if you've not done maths for a while (every day type maths; percentage differences, future/previous time etc) look at BBC Skillwise.
