Morning that is a good question. no matter what trade you go into there is always a chance to transfer over to the paratroopers. there are a few regiments that will let you go away and still do the course as well as staying and doing the trade you have picked like royal engineers

    Hope this helps

If you want to go straight in as a Para, you would have to score top marks on the physical tests at the assessment centre. Im unsure would they are off the top of my head but they are achievable. Most struggle with the run, either the 2km time or the bleep test.

If you pass those standards you'll be able to join as a Para, going 1st to basic training with the infantry and then P company and doing your jumps for wings.

    In short, get fit!

    Hi Alana,

The standards to join the Paras have dropped dramatically within the last few weeks. If you are able to achieve a minimum of 9.9 on a 20 metre bleep test then you have the potential to join straight as a Para. Of course, there's a little more to it and certainty for those that haven't prepared physically, it will likely be beyond the realms of possibility to complete Basic training which won't be as simple to pass.

I'd give serious consideration to this however, with Harrogate being so popular you wouldn't want to lose your place and have to wait for Senior entry training when you have such a beneficial opportunity to attend AFC Harrogate.
