How often are the Dog handlers deployed? As it seems in the job description to be all they do.. What do soldiers that have pets do with their pets when deployed? I have no family in the uk to look after him, they all moved to Spain TIA

Hello,
Dog handlers like other personnel are deployed on a recurring basis but the time, type and constancy of deployments vary a lot depending on the unit, requirements of the unit at the time and even national and world events. As soldiers we are mandated to deploy as and when and sometimes at a moments notice. While is it possible to have pets in the army i would say it is difficult as (like you mention) getting help with care for pets can be difficult. I have seen personnel leave their pets with friends willing to help who are not deploying.
