Simona E. asked a question to Jen C.
Hi, great question. The Army is actually ranked as one of the top employers in the Working Families Best Practice Awards. There is only the same help towards childcare as you'd get if you weren't in the army if your children are still at nursery age incl up to £240 tax relief. However when they are at school the army will pay for Wrap Around Childcare cover (ie Breakfast and afterschool clubs). Most Chain of Commands are quite accomodating for example if you can't get to childcare cover prior to 0830/0900hrs then the army will do it's best to support that where it can. There are many parents now who will collect their children prior to 5.30pm but then might log back on in the evenings to continue work for a couple of hours. I hope that helps.
