I am a student nurse looking at pursuing a career in the armed forces as a nursing officer once i graduate and wanted to ask about the possible career paths available.
Thank you for your question. There are many paths that you can take as a Nursing Officer depending on which field of nursing you wish to go down. We have Medical Regiments all with differing roles and DPHC units which are specifically either Hospitals or Medical Centres within either a Garrison hosting many Units or individual Units themselves.
In order to chose these we often have to put in 2 yearly a PPP (Posting Preference Proforma) which is managed by a specific desk officer at our personnel centre in Glasgow. This is then considered with all other Nursing officers gone to the Jobs board and then you are assigned to a Unit at this jobs board every 2-3 Years. So there is plenty of variety available to you.
If you want to work specifically with 16 Brigade or the Parachute Regiment then you can of course work towards this and the Garrison there have a large Medical Centre with many Units attached. Giving you plenty of opportunity to apply and join 16 Brigade.
