Is there a difference between the British army's sniper course vs the Royal Marines? Does one produce better snipers?

Hello. I'm sure if you asked the Marines they would say the marines is better. Likewise if you asked any regiment in the Army they would probably argue they are the best. It really depends on which regiment you want to be in based on what job you want to do. A common comparison in the Marines and the Parachute Regiment but really the marines are going to be better at their maritime job role and the Paras are going to be better at airborne operations. So you should have a closer look at which force and regiment you want to join as sniper training is something you will only have the opportunity to do after.

The British Army and the Royal Marines each have their own sniper courses, tailored to their specific operational needs and environments. While both courses aim to produce highly skilled snipers, there are differences in training focus, tactics, and the environments in which these snipers are expected to operate. Deciding which produces "better" snipers is subjective and depends on various factors, including the specific requirements of each branch and the context in which the snipers are deployed. Both courses are rigorous and produce highly skilled snipers, but they cater to different operational needs. The Royal Marines' course may be seen as more specialized due to its emphasis on extreme and varied environments. However, the British Army's course is comprehensive and designed to produce versatile snipers capable of operating in a broad range of conditions. Ultimately, the "better" sniper depends on the specific mission requirements and operational context.

Hope this helps you decide, however, Deegan is correct instead of trying to pick army or navy for the snipers course think of which branch and regiment you would like to join first as being selected and passing a sniper course comes once you are fully qulified professional soldier in whatever unit you decide to join.

If becoming a sniper is your main focus, then I do reccomend joining the COMBAT role within the Army for the best opertuinity to do this with lots of units to choose from, that annually train snipers.
