Is it the RMP that guards the entry points to the bases or normal soldiers?

    Hi there,

The majority of bases are manned by the MPGS (Military Provost Guard Service), with serving soldiers assisting where necessary, including those from the RMP.

Regardless of which Corps or Regiment you join, there is a chance you will need to perform guard duties at some point in your career.

Just for a bit of background, the MPGS are one of three units of the AGC (Adjutant General's Corps) Provost Branch (alongside the Royal Military Police and the Military Provost Staff), so there is a close connection between MPGS and the RMP.

You can find more information about the MPGS here: https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/adjutant-generals-corps/provost/military-provost-guard-service/

Hope that helps, and do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
