No, soldiers don't walk about in constant dread.

There are situations that are designed to put the individual under pressure so that they can deal with moments of fear when they present themselves. No doubt you'll have heard someone say "my training just kicked in", that's the goal.

That said, when soldiers are deployed on OPs/war, there will be times were fear is an unavoidable natural reaction to a situation. That's when training, experience and those around you make the difference.
