Is it possible to work up the ranks by starting as an infantry soldier?

    Hi, great question. Yes is the simple answer. There are several ways of working up the ranks however you need to be hardworking and proactive. 1. Normal promotion - over years of hardwork promoting through the ranks. 2. Some capbadges (REME, Royal Army Physical Training Corps as examples), do leaps from 1 rank to another because of the required rank in certain roles. Sometimes indiviudals are picked up at various points in the career early on to commission (ie become an officer). So there's lots of different ways to go through the ranks. As an example, after 3 years you'd hope to have reached LCpl level as your first starting point. I hope this helps.
