hello, I am looking to join the army and take up the role of a nurse in order to then become a doctor. I am aware that you do not have to be a nurse in order to become a doctor however from what I have seen they have quite different experiences and having the knowledge of a nurse and then becoming a doctor seems to be a more intriguing path for me.
Hi, great question. Unfortunately you can train to be a nurse in the army (through the Queen Alexandras Royal Army nursing Corps) - the army will fund your 3yrs nursing degree at Birmingham uni and pay you a salary and your accommodation etc.
HOWEVER, all army Doctors are already qualified before they join the army. You wouldn't be able to be a nurse, then study further to be a doctor, at least not whilst you were serving. I supposed you could leave, retrain to be a Dr then try and rejoin as a Dr when you are qualified. I hope this helps.
