Hello David. Thank you for your question.
The short answer is Yes, you can have a private business alongside. However, there are processes and rules you must adhere to such as not letting it interfere with your role in the Army and you must pay tax etc etc. I am not an expert in this field but all I know is yes you can do it but depends on the business so it is a case by case basis. My advice would be is to pop into your local Army careers office, arrange a meeting with one of our recruiters and speak to them about it.
I hope this helps
Zoe
Hi David
I agree with Zoe P. You can have a private business (depending on the nature of the business) while serving but the Army has to come first. You would need to inform HMRC as you would be earning a second income.
Hope this helps.
Rob
Just to add a little more, If you were to have work alongside your primary role of being in the Army you would require permission from your Chain of Command to do this. Even if you had everything else in place the answer could still be no. But a lot of that will depend on what it is you are doing.
Regards
