Is it looked down upon to only serve for the minimum of 4 years or is it quite common for people to do this?

Hi Abbie, thanks for your question.

How long a soldier or officer decides to serve is an entirely personal decision. There are plenty of service personnel who achieve all of their goals in the first 4 years of service and move on to fresh challenges elsewhere, while others decide to do a full career. However, the longer you stay in the better your resettlement package and pension will be!

If you decide that you want to serve 4 years then no one will look down on you for this decision.

    I hope this helps!

    Paul.
