Is it harder to make lasting bonds with your unit(s) due to the temporary nature of postings as a medical officer?

    Tori C. Regimental Medical Officer

    Hi Ashwin,

RMOs are usually posted to a regiment for 3 years, some will choose to extend, but spending more than 4 years with the same unit would be unusual.

If RMOs like a particular part of the Army, say infantry, or cavalry, then they may rank jobs working with those type of regiments highly on their posting preference form.

RMOs often harbour some affinity with units after leaving them, but it is worth remembering that the soldiers and officers in those units will also post every 3-5 years, so the unit is ever changing as well.
