Is age an issue at Sandhurst? Heard Combat Arms regts prefer younger Officers (24 or younger).

Am 25, would be 27 if/when commission. Would like to go into a Line Infantry regiment however have heard I wouldn't get much of a shot with being an older entry.

    Hi there,

    The maximum age for training to be an officer in the British Army is 28 years and 11 months. All cap badges will be open to you at that age.

    So long as you are the type of person that the Regiment are looking for, and can meet the fitness requirements for your desired cap badge then you have as much chance as everyone else, irrespective of age.

    For the infantry you will need to achieve the following;

    Mid Thigh Pull with 76kg

    Medicine Ball Throw of 3.1m

    2km run in 10m 15s

    More about the Soldier Conditioning Review can be found here: https://apply.army.mod.uk/how-to-join/can-i-join/fitness/physical-entry-standards

    Good luck with your application.
